It’s about time

We all have childhood fantasies like wanting to fly, being magic and sometimes it carries over to adulthood. They go from fantasy to fascination. I have never been very interested in flying. We all want to be magic, but my major fascination has always been time travel. I don’t think I’m the only one since books and movies have made lots of money on this subject.
I’m slightly interested in going forward but mostly interested in going back. Changing history for the better. Immunizing the Indians before the Pilgrems get here, making sure nobody spends money on a Yugo, that sort of thing.
I would have my father buy as much of Park City as he could. (It was a ghost town when we were kids). But most of my interest is sharing technology of the present with people from the past. I know that that would disturb the space time continuum.
But then there’s the fun stuff, like telling Craig he needs to rethink the Tuxedo, and the girl.

Telling my grand parents that they don’t have to stay married.

Tell people not to pet wild animals.

Or maybe just to tell these guys that it’s ok.

Any fascinations you would like to share?

You should see Jerna Mitchell and me at the sweater swing(I think). She had a colorful pant suit, blue and yellow with little giraffs all over. I’m sure I was looking just as lovely.

I would love to go back and tell the younger me that it is perfectly fine (and favorable) to abandon organized religion. To trust myself and not brush away the doubts. To trust myself, rather than thinking I had to get direction and permission from authority figures on what to decisions to make.
Then there’s the fashion and hair style choices… yikes!

I’d go back and tell myself to not spend so many years hating myself for being attracted to men. That I was completely normal in the eyes of God. I’d go back and tell myself not to listen when all my family, friends, and religious leaders were telling me who I was and how I felt was evil.
Oh, and I would still wear that tux. I looked fabulous in that tux. I would tell Kelly Thorton not to wear yellow though…she clashed in more ways than one.
And the Native Americans…I’m with Paul. Get them some flu shots!

I too would tell myself to ditch the Mormon faith (and not replace it with anything. I spent years trying to find a replacement and wonder why now).. Like Craig and Paul, I’d tell myself NOT to listen to those I should have been able to look to for support – about what gay is.
I’d tell these things to my friend Max, too.. who committed suicide because he couldn’t handle the struggle..
And I’d make darn sure I had some fun..

I always used to fantasize about going back in time and playing some different types of music for people like Mozart and Beethoven to get their reaction. What would Mozart say about Beehoven’s music, or about Jazz, or oldies Rock and Roll? I really wonder… Like you, I’ve also thought it would be cool to show today’s technology to those in the past.

I’ve always wanted to know what Vivaldi was thinking, and why he gets so much air time. It’s often painful. I was going to do the magic thing with this blog and I was going to say, I wished I could play the piano like Brandon and the violin like Joshua Bell.

Love this post. I wish I could go back and come up with the idea of Ebay. Or Windows. Or something else that would make me super rich. Then I’d take ALL of you on a trip with me to Europe. Or Hawaii. Because I love you all that much.

Very thought provoking post. I really like that.
I have always been fascinated with the idea of traveling to far away places. In fact, the more I travel, the more fascinating it becomes! I enjoy everything from the new foods, sights, people, cultures, and ideas. I think my fascination was inspired by my maternal grandmother, as were many other things about me.
I’m sure I would enjoy time travel too, especially to see how things came to be the way they are now. I think evolution is one of the most fascinating things ever.

By the way…my fascination as a child WAS with flying. Probably because I always dreamed that I could fly…and still do! Some of the time I soar freely like Superman – usually about 50 feet above the ground. It feels fantastic. Other times it’s almost more levitating above the ground and floating around for all to see. I love the fact that in my dreams I’m the only one that can fly and everyone is so impressed.

I like the time travel concept. For me, my fascination with geology has always made me wonder what the things or scenes I am looking at looked like 100, 1000, 100,000 or millions of years ago. How did Death Valley look 60 mil years ago? What was it like to see millions of bison running across the plains? How did the Native Americans dress, socialize, hunt, etc.? So many things would be interesting to watch in a time lapse video. Maybe when I’m a could it will happen.

Hey Michael…did you mean cloud? On the other hand if you aspire to be a could who should question you?

Right. Who cloud?

I know I cloudn’t
